First off, if you haven’t seen Avengers: Infinity War, you’re really missing out, but more importantly this contains major spoilers for both that movie and what may happen in the coming film.  Originally scheduled for May 3rd, 2019 but now to be released on April 26th, 2019, Avengers: Endgame will be the final Avengers movie. Director Joe Russo told Uproxx “The movies are two different movies.” This means that Avengers 4 is going to pick up after Avengers 3, it’s not going to be a continuation, but more of a new movie picking up after half the population was wiped out by “the snap”,when many Avengers fell into dust.  The ones left are Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, War Machine, Rocket, Okoye, Nebula, along with Bruce Banner, and possibly Hulk although he never really appeared in Infinity War except at the first because of some personal issues apparently going on. There are a two big ones that aren’t confirmed as well: Hawkeye and Ant-Man, which will both be explained later. That makes the following either dead or disintegrated: The Wasp and family (confirmed from the credits of Ant Man), Nick Fury and Maria Hill (S.H.I.E.L.D.), Star Lord, Groot, Drax, Mantis, Gamora, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Bucky, Falcon, Loki, Heimdall (Thor’s best friend), Spider Man, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and Shuri. All of this was all thanks to Thanos’s snap or from them physically being killed such as Gamora and Loki.

If you can’t remember exactly what happened in Infinity War, here’s a refresher.  Thanos and the Black Legion were all going to collect the Infinity Stone, they spread out to get them, end up getting all of them despite all of the Black Legion being killed, and then Thanos snapping to take out half the population.  Overall, this was a film that was full of action and crying from all the deaths that not many people saw coming. Despite the entire movie being pretty depressing, there is still hope for the world. This is thanks to Nick Fury paging in Captain Marvel in the end scene of Infinity War just before he fades into dust.  Just who is she though? Basically she’s a female version of Superman except she can absorb energy and release it in controlled blasts from her hands and she isn’t killed by a green rock (sorry Superman). A brand new movie of her is set to release on March 8th, 2019 so we will be able to get a glimpse of just who she is and what she can do.

Since Avengers Endgame is happening about 5 years from the tragic events of Avengers Infinity War, many things have happened.  From the trailer, we see a new, dark Hawkeye. This is largely thanks to the Sokovia Accords from Captain America Civil War. This essentially made it so he couldn’t fight anymore because he was marked as a dangerous man.  Captain America and Black Widow were also under these accords although now that Infinity War has happened, it seems as though all of this has been cleared up. The Russo Brothers said “Hawkeye’s on his own journey in this movie” meaning that something has or is probably changing with him.  This is confirmed in the trailer when we see Clint Barton dressed as someone who we’ve never seen him dressed as: Ronin. Ronin is a character only seen in the comics before but now, he is looking to appear in the new movie. The reason that Clint has possibly decided to be Ronin is that with the name Hawkeye, he would be arrested.  So, he adopted the name Ronin and took after his looks. In the trailer, he is seen in the rainy streets of Japan with a sword in a pretty cool looking suit standing over people who are probably dead from him. Ronin is a bit darker than Hawkeye, but grim times have called for grim measures.

The other main character who was missing from the action in Infinity War was Ant-Man.  After the post credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp, Ant-Man is left in the Quantum realm alone with no way to escape when his colleagues are all turned to dust in the regular world leaving him stranded.  Michael Douglas said in an interview that “The Quantum Realm plays an important part in all the next chapters, I think, of the Marvel chapters.” In the Endgame trailer we see Scott asking to be let in to talk to Captain America and company, to which Captain America asks “Is this an old message?”, which Black Widow responds with “its the front door.” This indicates that this is indeed a live feed, meaning that somehow Scott Lang somehow escaped the quantum realm.  However, another possibility has come up. At the top of the video, it is seen to be an archive video from 1983. If this is true, then that means that neither Captain America or Black Widow have seen it before. Scott Lang could have potentially already time traveled, making him a possible key to possibly undoing the snap.

During all of this, Thanos is seen enjoying his life somewhere in the world.  The trailer shows him briefly walking through a field of corn, probably showing that he has done what he came for and now he can rest.  There are many theories out there highlighting what could potentially happen. The most probable ones are that they will somehow turn back time or they can bring back all of the people who were lost in some way, although nothing is clear as to what will happen yet.  Hopefully coming trailers will show us what will happen in the universe which has been left decimated by Thanos.
